There was this research done at UT Austin on 800 smartphone user.
Each had to take a cognitive test.
Group 1: phone was face down on the desk
Group 2: in their pocket or bag
Group 3: in a completely different room
Surprise! Group 3 “significantly” (in a mathematical sens) did better.
Turns out that using energy to ignore your phone makes you dumber.
There is a whole other host of skull-densing habits our digital alter-egos have:
Default skimming
Multi-tasking twitch
Extreme desire to watch hilarious dachshund shorts (the greatest small dog breed of all time)
Comon, we all get our “stupid” on the moment the glow hits our face.
I probably shouldn’t even be writing this on my laptop.
So why is it so many people write emails like a 3-point 45 minute sermon?
Even then I am distracted by the back of the bald guy’s head in front of me AND what the dude next to him is watching on his phone.
No dumb person in their wrong mind is going to read that wall of text.
Their off.line alter ego would, though.
The book you wrote was meant for off.line readers with their properly functioning noetic structues firing on all cylinders.
But your emails should be written for oafs.
Save the juicy in-depth for you book. It also gives them a great reason to buy your book.
If you want help turning you book into a fun email course for the dumb version of your readers, check out my offer:

P.S. I had a dachshund as my first dog. It’s like having a big dog in a little dog. Teasing him was so much fun, but he got us back by digging holes under the fence and making us chase him around the neighborhood. We were a different kind of dumb back then.
