I had a miraculous event happen this morning.
It won’t put me on the roster for the next vote for sainthood at the Vatican.
But it may have saved my life.
Not many know this, but I work early mornings for 3.5 hours at the UPS warehouse.
So I was tired on my way home from work at about 8:30 AM.
I pulled onto the highway to run an errand and dozed off for a split second.
But what woke me in that instant was an electronic tone. I know I didn’t imagine it.
It’s a 13-year-old VW Golf with no driver-monitoring camera or lane-drift beep notifier.
Neither Google Maps, which was on, nor my iPhone has any tech for sleepy drivers.
No other coincidental warning had been triggered, like low fuel.
This firm tone came from a source I cannot explain technologically.
So, I claim it as a miracle.
And a warning not to drive too much after my shift.
Many of your subscribers are half-awake when they are scrolling through their email feed.
But a miraculous subject line can break their slumber.
If you are writing the same ol’ kind of subject line, like one that tells them exactly what is in the email, expect a disappointing number of subscribers to open your email.
For example, “Praying 3 times a day keeps you spiritually fit”
This is a bad subject line because it tells the subscriber the conclusion or summary of the email. They have no real reason to open it.
Nothing is driving me to open it.
What should you do instead?
In my comic “blarg BETWEEN THE LINES” you can find out:
